I am grateful that I found this book by Dale Carnegie in college. It felt weird listening to personal development books but my friend Paul and I both were into the tape so it helped a ton to have a friend listening to.

I wish school would teach us the basic principles of how to engage with people for their benefit and ours as well but school only tapped the surface.

Here are some of the best tips from the book:

  • Remember people’s names! Not just their nicknames.
  • Don’t condemn other people. See things and address things from their point of view.
  • Be generous and GENUINE in your praise. Shallow praise or shallow flattery is not effective (at least not for long).
  • Treat people how THEY want to be treated.
  • Listening is the most valuable skill we can build.

This book is one of the best on relationships and it is very easy to read. I hope you can get the full value of this book and apply it to your life.
