I believe the best approach to take is that of a student if you want to adopt the habit of writing daily. It does not come easy (at least to be consistent and of high quality) so you should learn how the top producers tackle it first.

Writing helps to expand our thoughts and everything we have experienced in life. By working on this skill, we improve our understanding of language and communication. We improve our ability to articulate and educate others.

Of course writing a few words is easy, but sticking with the habit over the long-term can sometime be challenging. Especially if there are days when you “don’t feel like it.”

That’s why we need Atomic Habits!

And need to focus on the identity we want to embody not just the goals we have.

Getting 1% better everyday

Reading and making kaizen edits

Incrememental edits in between work, at wake up, and before sleep

Needing it to share with others as motivation

Just a little bit everyday

Was motivated when Medium did my article went from. 1 minute read to a 2 minute read

Incremental development

Think about how you will feel once you have all of your ideas out and logically organized. Maybe it is information you can share to remind yourself in the future or help someone else.

Writing affords us the ability to churn ideas out and bring new ones in.

Less thought more do

Anchoring to other habits that I’m more consistent with like checking my phone.

Being excited for the process and the journey and also tiny habits like adding a few words every time I open up my phone.

We have to be creative to establish new habits and remember that our bodies are constantly avoiding pain and seeking pleasure instead.
